The main focus of this position will be to transport students (typically athletic teams) to competitions, some being as far away as the Berkshires or Boston. When not performing these duties the candidate will participate in monitoring other school activities as assigned which could include organizing athletic storeroom; making phone calls for the Athletic Director, bathroom or lunch monitoring. Work hours will flex based on Athletic schedule. This position is for the full academic year.
Specific bus driver responsibilities include:
–Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safety
–Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
–Regularly checking vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment, etc.
–Monitoring and reporting fuel consumption, mileage and passenger numbers
–Inspecting the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip
–Maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
–CDL License required
–Passenger and school bus endorsement required
–Previous experience as a bus driver
–Experience working with children preferred
–Excellent communication skills
–Successfully passing a drug test and DMV check as part of the hiring process.
