Speech and Language Pathologist 25/26


Evaluate students, develop and implement individualized therapy plans, provide direct services, and supervise a Speech Language Pathology Assistant following Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations and ASHA guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication and pragmatic evaluations using formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify students’ strengths and areas of need.
  • Participate in eligibility determinations and IEP development meetings.
  • Provide detailed and timely evaluation reports and progress updates.
  • Development and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Deliver direct and consultative services in individual, small group, and/or classroom-based settings.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals using data-driven practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support student academic and functional communication success.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to the SLPA including observation, training, and performance feedback in alignment with ASHA and state licensure requirements.
  • Review and co-sign documentation completed by the SLPA.
  • Ensure compliance with the appropriate scope of practice and ethical standards.
  • Serve as a member of the Special Education team; attend and participate in team meetings and IEP development.
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with federal and state special education laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of services and communication logs.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to school-wide initiatives related to communication and learning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.  Valid MA licensure as an SLP.  ASHA certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a school setting preferred.  Experience supervising SLPAs or graduate interns is a plus.  Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.  Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural school environment.
