Maintenance Custodian Evenings (5 positions)

Job Summary:  The Maintenance Custodian is responsible and accountable for maintaining the building in a clean and safe condition. The Maintenance Custodian works closely with the Director of Operations, Maintenance team and the school staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collects and disposes of waste, shovels snow, maintains exterior sidewalks, and assists in keeping exterior premises in an orderly, groomed condition;
• Performs repairs and maintenance of building by patching walls and doors, painting walls and trim, and replacing fixtures and partitions;
• Replaces damaged ceiling and floor tiles, and repairs carpet;
• Reports to supervisor damages or needed repairs requiring outside attention;
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC and sprinkler systems;
• Able to perform basic maintenance on fire, security, and alarm systems;
• Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways, and common areas;
• Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off;
• Moves furniture as requested and/or required;
• Use of ladders and a variety of hand tools may be required;
• Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from high school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Meets expectations of regular, reliable attendance.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to perform all required tasks
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
