K-5 Health/SEL Teacher

The Health/Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher will work to support the process by which children develop fundamental emotional and social competencies and experiences. The Teacher will work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by teaching how to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Additionally, the Teacher will center their work on the five core competencies: Self-Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationships Skills, and Responsible Decision making.


•Deliver highly effective daily health/SEL lessons based on student need, rooted in research-based instructional practices and curriculum.
•Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
•Utilize research-based best practices in lesson planning and classroom instruction.
•Attend professional development to support the social emotional learning curriculum and instruction by using best practices, including research on learning theory and content standards.
•Supports the integration of school-wide social and emotional learning education throughout school.
•Create a joyful, caring, and loving classroom environment for all students.
•Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
•Implement school-wide PBIS culture expectations and norms, inside the classroom and beyond.
•Communicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child.
•Incorporate 21st century technology skills into daily classroom practice and team settings.
•Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips
•Collaborate and communicate effectively, humbly, and respectfully with all colleagues.
•Perform other duties as assigned

•Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Ma. teaching license
•Bachelor’s Degree required
•Master’s in a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong knowledge and becomes an expert resource on social and emotional learning research, evaluation, strategies, theories, techniques, and methods of instruction for the district.
•Understands the five social and emotional learning core competencies.
•High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
•High quality written and verbal communication skills
•High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
•Ability to properly manage confidential information
•Ability to supervise students in all school settings, including in a classroom, in lunch room, recess and/or transitioning between any of these settings
•Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred
