Job Summary: SICS is seeking a hands-on Google Workspace & Chromebook Support Specialist to support our K–12 technology environment. This role focuses on Chromebook management and repair, light Google Workspace administration, and day-to-day IT support that helps keep instruction running with minimal disruption. The position works closely with the IT Director and Network Administrator in support of the school’s 1:1 Chromebook program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Chromebook Program Operations & Repairs
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Chromebook support, repairs, and operational questions
- Perform hands-on repairs including screens, keyboards, trackpads, batteries, and charging ports
- Diagnose hardware issues and determine repair versus replacement decisions
- Enroll, reset, and reconfigure devices through the Google Admin Console
- Maintain a clean repair workspace and organized parts inventory
- Track repairs, parts usage, warranties, and loaner devices
- Coordinate vendor repairs when issues exceed in-house capabilities
- Support device deployment, end-of-year collection, auditing, and redeployment
- Maintain a pool of loaner devices and spare equipment
IT Support & Help Desk
- Respond to support tickets in a timely and professional manner
- Provide in-person support for staff and classrooms
- Troubleshoot common issues including logins, printing, smartboards, projectors, and Wi-Fi connectivity
- Document issues, repairs, and resolutions consistently
Collaboration & Operations
- Work with the IT Director on projects, upgrades, and process improvements
- Coordinate with the Network Administrator on escalated infrastructure issues
- Assist with technology rollouts, state testing preparation, and large-scale deployments
- Help maintain IT documentation, inventory records, and standard procedures
Required Qualifications
- Experience administering Google Workspace, preferably in an education setting
- Experience supporting and repairing Chromebooks in a high-volume environment
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Clear communicator with students, teachers, and non-technical staff
- Strong organizational, time-management, and documentation habits
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Workspace Administrator certification
- Experience in an education school environment
- Familiarity with Chromebook asset tracking and device management platforms
Education: Associate’s degree or higher preferred; high school diploma or equivalent considered
