Dean of Students 6-12

Salary dependent upon education and related experience. Tentative range: 70,000 to 80,000/year

Job Summary:

The Dean of Students will lead and supervise the Student Management Team for their assigned grade levels. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and evaluate four Student Support Interventionists (SSIs).
• Oversee student discipline and management for Grades 6-12.
• Ensure successful implementation of the SICS code of conduct for Grades 6-12.
• Provide a safe and orderly environment in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, buses, and all areas of the school.
• Lead investigations of student discipline matters, bullying complaints, suspension hearings, and implementation of student safety and support plans.
• Support classroom teachers and other staff with implementing successful classroom management strategies.
• Communicate effectively and proactively with students’ families on all matters related to discipline and management.
• Ensure all student discipline data is thoroughly and correctly documented in our Student Information System (SIS), especially for at-risk students.
• Create an effective yearly schedule for both teachers and students which meets the school’s needs.
• Creates and implements plans in case of extended teacher absence to ensure educational momentum will continue.
• Support successful summer academic programs.
• Provide data and reports to the Board of Trustees’ Education Subcommittee as requested by the Principal and Director.
• Ensure successful implementation of the school’s MTSS program.
• Other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Principal and Director.

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience in a school setting, preferably with student management (5+ years).
• Supervisory experience preferred.
