- Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages community, student responsibility and incorporates flexible learning strategies to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students.
- Develop and deliver direct instruction lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate ESL/SEI teaching techniques and strategies.
- Provide instruction in English that meets ELP Benchmarks and assists students in accessing the Academic Content to ensure that students meet/exceed learning targets
- Address all aspects of language through developmentally appropriate instruction in following domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Administer academic and language (informal/formal/diagnostic) assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition, including state/federal-mandated testing (i.e. ACCESS Tests and/or MCAS exams)
- Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run a productive classroom and/or co-teaching environment to allow for learning time to be maximized.
- Oversee assigned out-of-classroom duties during the school day, as needed
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 1-3 years teaching experience
- MA state licensure ESL
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
